Welling Films is a Houston-based production company dedicated to producing innovative feature films that reflect the diversity from action adventure, sci-fi fantasy to family narrative.
The company was founded in 2002 by Shawn Welling with extensive experience conceiving, producing and choreographing off-broadway shows.

THE FINAL FRONTIER

Welling Films, has grown in stature, with notable releases such as, the action thriller "Narco Sub / THE SHIPMENT", "Great AMERICAN ACTION HERO", and FAMILY FUN of "IF I COULD RIDE." WELLING FILMS RECENTLY TEAMED UP WITH EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, LEE MAJORS, for "Mission from Outer Space 2037" (2022), starring Lee Majors. The film would mark Tom Sizemore's final role before his passing.
In 2024, Welling FILMS completed the remarkable documentary Alive: A True Story of Hope, which he is currently expanding into a multi-part series. WELLING FILMS continues TO BE dedicatED to writing, directing and PRODUCING THAT ensures that It's influence in the world of independent filmmaking remains strong.

In 2024, Welling Films continued to expand its reputation for both narrative features and documentaries.
The company released Alive: A True Story of Hope, a heartfelt documentary that marked a milestone in their catalog of inspirational stories. At the same time, they premiered the sci-fi action feature Mission From Outer Space 2037, starring Lee Majors and the late Tom Sizemore, with Emma Rain Welling in a key role. Shot in Houston, the film highlighted the city’s growing potential as an independent film hub, combining expansive Texas landscapes with local community support.
The premiere of Mission From Outer Space 2037 at the Regal Edwards Houston Marq’E on Memorial Day weekend drew attention not only for its scale but also for Welling Films’ commitment to bringing theatrical events back to Houston. This project demonstrated their ability to mount large-scale features while staying rooted in Texas. Alongside these releases, Shawn Welling emphasized Houston’s creative resources and positioned the city as a serious contender in the indie film world.
By early 2025, Welling Films had already launched into its next chapter with production on Alive Part 2, building on the success of the first documentary. Simultaneously, several other projects entered the pipeline, including River of Angels (a documentary on the July 4th Kerr County flood), The Sound of Willow (a faith-based feature inspired by community and music), and Lincoln & Knox (an upcoming drama). These works reflect Welling’s ongoing focus on stories of resilience, faith, and Texas communities.
Taken together, Welling Films’ 2024–2025 slate reflects a balance of scale and intimacy—combining Hollywood-caliber spectacle with grassroots storytelling. From expanding documentary franchises to mounting community-centered dramas and action features, Shawn Welling and his team continue to create films that bridge personal narrative, local identity, and international reach.
